Meredith's Table, Finally!

I want to thank you for your patience.  It's been quite a while since I've posted Penny Pickles stuff.  I've been busy working on some things, but they've taken longer than I would have hoped, I took a vacation, busy with end of school and baseball starting up, yada, yada, yada...

So I am more than happy to present to you Meredith's table and chairs that I finally finished.  Meredith is my wonderful and talented friend Leslie's, daughter.  She is quite the adorable character and it was fun to do something just for her.  It was cool too because Leslie gave me total creative freedom to do what I wanted - so I thought a bit about Miss Merdi and recalled some of the elements of my previous work that Leslie seemed to like the best. The outcome was simply adorable.  I am pleased as peas that Merdi loved her table, as did Leslie.  It was the least I could do after all the wonderful photographs she's done for me of my artwork and my family. Not to mention my incessant questions on photography once I bought my own big girl camera.

Well I'll shut up now, Leslie did a beautiful job photographing this little set.  It was a bit trickier than usual to paint it.  When I paint on canvas, I can usually get through one part and then go back and either do another layer or start to do details.  With wood things don't dry quite so fast, so after smearing several flowers, I figured I needed to muster up my patience and wait for the layers to dry.  So it wasn't really more labor, just more drying time.  Then it's the poly layer to protect the design from what kids will throw at it, which takes a day or two - unless you want your kid high on fumes.  So without further ado-

I couldn't resist this one, I stole it from Leslie's blog - one of the first things that Merdi did was set up a tea party for her and her pink unicorn.  So sweet - even if the unicorn is freaking me out a bit.

Thanks again for your patience, I have more Penny Pickles to share.  Next week is Lindy's horses!

Also I my new Indy Star blog releases on Monday, so check it out if you get a chance - I will be sending out a email link, let me know if you want to be included.  Thanks!

I don't know if I'm more horrified by the creepy unicorn or my cluttered island in the background! :)

Thanks again for a new family heirloom. We just love it!
