For What It's Worth
Thanks again Ryan for humoring me and surprising me with my shirt!
All the ladies - minus me
I can't put my finger on why I am so tired, but my calendar tells me otherwise. I have a million irons in the fire, and not doing many of them the justice they deserve. Is it bad that I all I can think about is April in Florida?
Not to be all doom and gloom, I had a fun, fun Friday night - I can't believe it's come and gone. If you live in a hole you wouldn't know that I am a huge Twilight fan - not a Twi-hard because I think that name is gay. I am a fan, I loved the books, and I've enjoyed now both movies.
Melissa: a fellow fan
There are several people out there that don't like the books or movies for whatever reasons. Some I think just don't like them because they want to be cool and off the bandwagon - Miley Cyrus comes to mind there are a few less famous sorts as well. Sure it was crazy- interviews, specials, etc. I don't care, I ate them up. With all the crap going on in the world with our politics, wars, economy, global warming - I find delight in something so mindless and NOT earth shattering. I mean I've read some Pulitzer prize winning books and authors - they're great - but they generally require me to think, which when I am reading for recreation I prefer not to have to do. Same thing with movies. Sure I love me a good Oscar worthy performance, but generally speaking if you can entertain me for two hours, I'm a pretty happy girl. I just have simple taste - don't make me work too hard to be entertained.
You can't see them well, but I had red velvet cupcakes with "Edward" and "Jacob" and apples and flowers and well you get the point. I was a cake decorating fool!
Yes we had New Moon plates and napkins - thanks Ang!
That being said, I too rode the wave of hysteria and hosted my own New Moon party. I invited some of my closest girlfriends and encouraged them to bring more friends to join in on the fun. I had 18 ladies here, a few had to bail last minute because the tickets sold out (lessons learned for Eclipse!), but 18 was a great number. In typical Indiana fashion, everyone brought something because you can't show up empty handed, which I appreciated to no end! The food was great, the drinks were deliciously deceptive with their alcohol and best of all everyone was in high spirits to have a wonderful time. I, being my mothers daughter, decorated, complete with candles and balloons and kudos goes to my dear friend Brooke for her mad poster and plotting skills. While Twilight was on in the background we played Twilight trivia, where my lovely friend Lisa school everyone in facts. Then it was on to pin the tattoo on Jacob, because lets be honest, we're all thirty and forty somethings with silly shirts on, giddy as all get out to see a tween heart-throb movie, why not throw in squirrely games! It was hilarious and made for some great pictures!
Some ladies got a bit sassy with their tattoos!
prepping Holly for her spin at Jacob!
As the time approached to leave, my girls mobilized and the place was blown out, picked up, packed away and refrigerated before you could say Edward Cullen. We left - arriving at the theater with our pre-sold tickets and hour and a half early. This is one of those times when the early bird catches the worm - we got awesome seats, and for the most part all sat together.
I about peed my pants with Leslie's shirt! Seriously.
The movie exceeded my expectations. Sure it isn't going to win an Oscar (the CGI should though), but I was entertained for the entire movie and could have kept going. Are the actors phenomenal? No, Edward is a bit over acted at times, Bella is a bit too moody for even a teenage girl and Jacob is too young to really "feel" the emotion he is trying to show, let alone act it out. But with that - I never went into this or even Twilight for that matter expecting earth moving acting - I wanted to be entertained and that I was. It was an excellent translation of the book - one of the best I have seen yet. Edward is has handsome as ever and since I don't know any 108 year old vampires, my vote is that he did a good job and Jacob - well it's hard not to feel like a perv when I think of him and his "transformation." The audience at the showing I went to erupted in applause when he removed his shirt. I admit, I clapped. Drew's preschool teacher erupted into "oh my god!" Which brought on a case of the giggles from most of the middle-aged audience.
The night was just about as perfect as it could be - I had fun and I think most everyone else did too! I will be hosting an Eclipse party in June - when it is released. I will have plenty of time to think about how to make our evening even more fun that before. If you didn't attend, I recommend you get on my email list - it is good fun - for an evening you can be a giddy teen again and fill your head with fantasy fodder, who doesn't love that?!?!?
I love boys who sparkle too!
I will admit too, that I went on Sunday, by myself to see the movie for a second time. Yep, still loved it. I will own it, yes I will.
Have a great Thanksgiving and I'll be back next week! Take care and Thanks!
